Artist Statement
My favorite artwork, whether it is design or fine art, is simple and concise. The best way to communicate any message, visual or verbal, is through simplicity. In my art I appeal to the viewer through elements such as symmetry, hierarchy, rhythm, and balance. I am inspired by the designers Jacob Bannon, Aaron Turner, Herb Lubalin, and Saul Bass. From Bannon and Turner I've learned to expand graphic statements with emotion and distress. From Lubalin I've learned how to make typography powerful. From Bass I have learned that a simple icon will be recognized first and never forgotten.
In my design page I have included several works throughout the years, from High School until now. The thumbnails are organized chronologically from left to right. Some are from class, band logos and flyers, Internet contests, and others are just for fun.
I am currently in my senior year at San Diego State University in the Graphic Design program. In May, 2007 I will be graduating with my BA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design. As I grow as an artist and a designer I hope to pursue more professional clientele and make a name for myself in the world of graphic design.
